A new partnership<\/h2>\n\n

In a Still I Rise classroom in Yemen, learning English is no longer just a school exercise. It has become a game, a challenge – and at times, even a source of pride. This shift has been made possible through Across Cultures Learning Village, an image-based educational platform that Still I Rise has partnered with. Using game dynamics and visual learning, it helps students with no prior exposure to English begin building language skills. There are no long theoretical explanations: students learn by looking, listening, and trying. Over the past seven months, Level 2 students have been using the platform as part of their English and IT classes, with one dedicated hour per week. <\/p>\n\n

It\u2019s a relatively small time investment, just seven hours per term, but one that is already delivering tangible results. The progress is both visible and audible. Students are expanding their vocabulary, improving their listening skills, and, most importantly, gaining confidence in speaking. What truly makes the difference, however, is how this happens: through play, points, and images.<\/p><\/div>

Children’s reaction<\/h2>\n\n

Ahmed describes it simply: with the help of pictures and audio, he\u2019s able to learn quickly and, as he puts it, \u201cEnglish is fun.\u201d
For Amir, motivation comes through small rewards: finishing a lesson and earning stars makes him happy and encourages him to keep going.

Asma, meanwhile, finds the games especially helpful for memorization. She can already use words like grandma<\/em>, friend<\/em>, and family<\/em>.

For Mohammed A., the real milestone is being able to use English in everyday classroom situations. He proudly shares that he can now tell his teacher, \u201cI don\u2019t have a pencil.\u201d A simple sentence, but a meaningful achievement.<\/p><\/div>

The results<\/h2>\n\n

Teachers and educators are noticing the change as well. Students are more engaged, more independent, and more confident in using digital tools. The enthusiasm is contagious: every point earned is celebrated, and every lesson becomes an opportunity to challenge themselves. Overall, the results are clear: a broader vocabulary, stronger listening skills, and growing confidence in communication. English, once a barrier, is gradually becoming accessible. The project was made possible through free licenses and training support provided by Learning Village, demonstrating how simple, innovative tools can make a real impact even in complex contexts.
