Social and Emotional Learning Survey

2023 Social and Emotional Learning Survey

In February/April 2023, a survey on socio-emotional learning was conducted among all current students of Still I Rise schools and three Italian secondary schools. Specifically, they were asked to respond to 18 questions on a scale from 1 to 5 to assess their socio-emotional growth in five areas:

  • Responsible decision-making
  • Self-awareness
  • Social skills
  • Social awareness
  • Self-mastery

  • 85% Nearly 85% of SIR students see school as relevant to their future life, compared to 25% of the Italian students we interviewed
  • 80% Only 6% of Italian students feel a strong sense of belonging to their school, compared to almost 80% of SIR students.
  • 29% Managing bad moods seems to be more achievable for SIR students (29%) than their Italian counterparts (8%)

The responses provide meaningful insights and a useful starting point for measuring and reflecting on the emotional growth of students in their lives and school context.
